For this recent project within the image block, given by Ray, we are required to complete two sets of images relating to two separate topics. The images must relate in some way, to allow the viewer to recognise that they are a set of images.
The chosen subjects are:
What is architecture?

I wanted to gain some visual examples in order to help gain an idea of what is used nowadays and style of imagery. These images are from the Welsh School of Architecture prospectus, which prospective students view when deciding on their future options. I really like the use bold colour that instantly stands out and the use of geometric shapes. This is mostly found on the cover and on the inside of the cover, there is a distinctive link and I like the editing done on the images, despite their simplicity, there is a clear connection. Further along the brochure the connection is lost due to the clarity and structured style of the layout. The style of images vary, from the inclusion of people, to materials to more abstracted images. I like the style used and the diversity applied, however, I would like to see the connectivity of the images continue throughout them all.
- the science or study of the origin, development, organisation, and functioning of human society; the science of the fundamental laws of social relations, institutions etc.
I could not find as many images for sociology. These are three individual images from different prospectuses that represent the subject of Sociology. They all differ, but I do like the first image as it takes more of an abstracted route and still makes a statement about society. I find the other two images take a more direct route, which do also work well and therefore I think it is about having a combination of these to display the different aspects found within the subject in order to highlight its diversity. I will try to aim for this in my work, but to also create a clear connection, as is found in the architectural images.
